I made this lovely oak table for a friend in Ashburton

I dont tend to waste much time smoothing out the more hidden faces of my work. Its not laziness, its just not necessary. I also really enjoy exploring other peoples work to find similar signs of a human hand. And yes I know thats a bit nerdy...

I made this double bed with the leftover pieces from an oak frame, which would otherwise have become firewood. In the same room, I clad the walls with painted rough sawn boards. The whole room is trimmed round with a simple douglas fir frame.

Locally sourced douglas fir was used for this single bed.

A little coffee table made from a throughsawn slab which had some rot in it, and iron legs which i made on my forge

I made this table top from a great big pile of oak offcuts which had accumulated after glazing several oak frames. It was almost firewood, but with a bit of work it looks great, and the slab of slate in the centre is perfect for a hot dish.

I used my knowledge of complex roof geometry to design the base for this table. The version you see here was always meant to be a prototype, but its now several years old so I think I might just call it finished..

So simple, nothing flash at all. A perfect example of form and function.

Yes I know this isnt furniture, but I had a convenient space to fill, I made it and it looks cool on a table. Especially a table I made...

More metalwork...it keeps me entertained and allows me to think a little further beyond the little wooden world I live in.
